Conde Nast Traveller magazine has compiled a list of the 50 most beautiful places on earth, and these Mexican lakes have taken the top spot.
According to a list of the most beautiful places in the world compiled by Conde Nast, Las Coloradas in Mexico take the cake.
The world is home to variations of beauty from every corner. As the magazine puts it, the world is comprised of “flamingo-pink lakes in Mexico, plus vast, multi-coloured hills in the USA, green ripples of rice paddies in Indonesia and epic icescapes in Antarctica”.
Choosing the most beautiful place in the world has to be a tough pick by anyone’s standards. However, Las Coloradas has come out on top of this prestigious list.

Conde Nast Traveller has crowned Las Coloradas in Mexico as the most beautiful place in the world.
They said, “The incredible pink lakes here make up part of the protected nature reserve of Ría Lagartos Biosphere on Mexico’s Yucatán peninsula.
“Red-coloured algae, plankton and brine shrimp that thrive in the waters not only turn the native flamingos pink but help produce 500,000 tons of salt per year.”

Hidden away in a stunning corner of the Yucatan Peninsula on the eastern coast of Mexico, you can find these stunningly pink lakes in Las Coloradas, Mexico. They are in a tiny fishing village that is home to a population of around 1,000.
Tourists flock here for a unique and special experience in Mexico. They have become much more frequented in recent years, but they aren’t near any major cities.
While the pink waters might look inviting, it is recommended not to swim in the water. This is because the high salt content can be harmful to your skin.
Other places on the list – other beautiful places around the world
Taking second place on the list is the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest about 20 minutes outside of Kyoto in Japan.
This bamboo forest is particularly stunning in the early morning light with the bamboo trees surrounding you.
In third place is the stunning islands of The Philippines, of which there are over 7,000. El Nido is praised in particular for the stunning diving opportunities.
Rounding out the top ten are the Bondi Icebergs in Australia, Jerusalem in Israel, Ischia in Italy, Marrakech in Morocco, Kyoto in Japan, Havana in Cuba, and Redwood National Park in California.
Other notable spots throughout the top 50 are Antelope Canyon in Arizona and Mount Cook in New Zealand.
