Kicking off our list of countries for coffee lovers is Guatemala. Coffee is the largest export for Guatemala’s economy, but it wasn’t always that way; in fact, it wasn’t even considered a crop until the late 1850s.

Now one of the world’s most loved coffee countries, Guatemala mainly grows Arabica beans, but Honduras and surrounding countries are slowly overtaking its production status.

    9. Indonesia – home to highly diverse varieties

Indonesia is the world’s fourth largest coffee producer, and many will associate the island of Java with coffee. It was in the 1600s that the Dutch brought coffee to Indonesia, and since then, this has been one of the best countries for coffee lovers to visit.

Known for its woody, earthy flavours, Java coffee is often used in coffee blends worldwide.

    8. Turkey – a style of coffee worth trying

When you think of coffee, you automatically think of Turkey, and that is because Turkish coffee has become one of the world’s most famous beverages.

Turkey is by far one of the best countries for coffee lovers. Even though they do not grow their beans, drinking Turkish coffee is key to the local culture, just like in Ethiopia.

    7. India – producing coffee since the 1600s

You might think tea is more ingrained in Indian culture than coffee, but Arabica coffee has been in India since the 1600s.

Coffee, mainly Robusta these days, grows in the southern states of India, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, which are places every coffee lover should visit in this vibrant country.

    6. Honduras – coffee with authentic character

Honduras, a country in Central America, features a similar climate to Costa Rica and Guatemala, making it an excellent place to grow coffee.

Often overlooked as a coffee country until recently, Honduras has now taken over the market as one of the most sought-after producers worldwide.

    5. Ethiopia – the home of coffee

Any coffee lover will know that Ethiopia is known as the home of coffee, and drinking coffee is ingrained in the culture of this African country.

Unlike countries like Colombia, Ethiopia keeps the best coffee and exports the rest – which is still of a very high standard, so you can rest assured that this is one of the best countries for coffee lovers to visit.

    4. Costa Rica – renowned for its exceptional quality

If you seek good coffee, look no further than Costa Rica, a country that has become world-famous for its coffee.

Costa Rica’s Arabica coffee is highly regarded in the world of coffee. Produced at high altitudes and mild temperatures, it boasts a distinct flavour that every coffee enthusiast needs to experience.

    3. Colombia – known for their nutty Arabica roasts

Believe it or not, Colombia exports all of its best coffee, so what you will find within the country will be of lesser quality – but still incredible.

With a whole coffee triangle to explore, Colombia is a great place to sip on delicious Arabica roasts, known for their nutty aroma, while learning about the bean-to-cup process on a coffee farm tour. Aside from good coffee, Columbia also has some spectacular must-see places.

    2. Vietnam – a mix of robust, rich, and sweet

Another mention on our list of countries for coffee lovers is Vietnam. Aside from the delicious street foods in Vietnam, it is also one of the top countries with a thriving coffee culture; those who love the dark delight will love it there.

French colonists introduced coffee to Vietnam in the 1800s. Since then, Vietnam has become the world’s second-top producer of coffee, exporting an incredible 1.5 metric tonnes per year.

Here, you can enjoy the Robusta and Arabica varieties, famously mixed with sweet, condensed milk.

    1. Brazil – the world’s leader in coffee production
