Once you reach Tarkwa Bay Beach, be ready to be solicited. Many will approach you, offering to carry your items and sell you cabanas. If you choose not to rent a chair or cabana, you can disregard them.

There are many merchants on the beach, many of them kids. They respect your space and won’t trespass if you caution them not to. Snacks made of groundnuts, coconuts, etc., are also sold there.

It’s interesting to learn that Tarkwa Bay is home to a large population and nearby churches and schools. In addition, you are allowed to ride a horse, play volleyball (bring your ball, as only a net is supplied), and do other activities on the beach.

You will need to approach a floater that will be towed to shore because boats cannot dock on the beach’s edge. It’s a fun and balanced act to get through.

Since Tarkwa Bay is an island, the only way to get there is by boat. You can take a ferry or fast boat to the bay from several locations on Lagos Island.

The best locations to catch a boat to Tarkwa Bay are Tarzan Marine (Victoria Island), Mekwe Jetty, and Marina. A speedboat may be accessed from the Mekwe Jetty next to Bonny Camp on Lagos Island. The trip ought to take fifteen minutes.

For the complete trip, you can board a speedboat at Tarzan Marine Services, located next to the Lagos Oriental Hotel (to and fro). The price is N2,000 (£1.50), and the ride should take 25 minutes.

It is advised to avoid visiting the bay during the rainy season (April through September). Remember that you can only get to and from Tarkwa Bay via sea; heavy rain can make the ocean turbulent.

Furthermore, there are better matches than rain and beach leisure.

    Other notable mentions

A quiet area: You’ll have to walk a little farther if you’re searching for a more peaceful beach area because the first section is typically busier. There are many things to do, such as beach football, 4-wheeling, horseback riding, and just relaxing with a good book.

Variety of Ornaments: Vendors sell a wide variety of intriguing ornaments, including wood carvings, semi-precious stones, honey, peanuts, beaded jewellery, and more.

If something catches your attention, put your bartering hat on and try to negotiate a good deal (they can be a little pushy). You shouldn’t worry too much about cash because many of these retailers accept bank transfers.

Best locations to visit: Tarkwa Bay Beach, Lagos, is among the most incredible places to go when you need to take a break from the daily grind. All you have to do is unwind, have fun in the water, lounge on the beach, and have a pleasant day.

Other beautiful places to visit are Fiki Marina and Jaybee Beach Camp.

Your questions answered about Tarkwa Bay Beach, Lagos

Where is Tarkwa Bay Beach located?

Tarkwa Bay is an artificial protected beach in Lagos, Nigeria. It is close to the Lagos Harbour. Because it’s an island, the only way to get there is by boat or water taxi.

Which is the finest beach in Lagos?

There are many beautiful, cosy, and relaxing beaches in Lagos, Nigeria, and Tarkwa Bay Beach is one of them. However, some argue that Oniru Private Beach and Landmark Beach are the finest.

The cost of entering Tarkwa Bay Beach is 2000 Naira (£1.50), and an additional 500 Naira (£0.29) gets you chairs and a thatched tent for the day. It is important to note that these prices are prone to increase due to Nigeria’s economic inflation.
